Storyline:

Jessica Chastain will play Tammy Wynette, and Michael Shannon will play country singer George Jones in the show.The limited series follows Tammy Wynette and George Jones, a country music power couple whose complicated (but enduring) relationship inspired some of the most iconic music of all time. “Stand by Your Man,” Wynette’s most successful song, remains one of the most iconic and best-selling country singles by a female artist. “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” by George Jones, is widely regarded as the greatest country song of all time. George and Tammy’s legacy, both musically and romantically, remains one of the greatest love stories ever told, with over 30 number-one country songs between them, including duets “We’re Gonna Hold On,” “Golden Ring,” and “Near You.”

George & Tammy is a biography of country singers George Jones and Tammy Wynette.

The couple was known as the ‘King and Queen of Country Music’. George and Tammy were both successful solo artists before they met and fell in love. They had previously been married to other people, and this was their third marriage. George and Tammy were married for a short time, from 1969 to 1975.

The film George & Tammy is based on Tamala Georgette’s memoir The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George. Georgette had grown up witnessing the couple’s celebrity and the darker side of her parents’ relationship.

George & Tammy, a musical biopic, will premiere on Showtime and the Paramount network on Sunday, at 9 p.m. ET. The show will air on Paramount because it was originally planned as a Paramount series.

Following the release of the first episode of George & Tammy on Showtime, the remaining episodes will be released on streaming every Friday and will air on TV every Sunday night.
