Education and childhood background:

Kirstie Alley was born On January 12, 1951,in Wichita, Kansas, to lumberman Robert Deal Alley and Lillian Alley.

Alley graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1969 and attended Kansas State University for two years before dropping out after her sophomore year.

Alley appeared as a contestant on the game show Match Game in 1979 after moving to Los Angeles to study Scientology and work as an interior designer.

Achievements:

She won both rounds, winning $500 in the first and $5500 in the second. She also appeared on the game show Password Plus in 1980. On both shows, she described herself as an interior designer. In 1981, her mother was killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver, and her father was seriously injured.

Career:

Alley made her film debut in 1982 in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, playing Vulcan Starfleet officer Lieutenant Saavik, but declined to reprise the role in the next two sequels, claiming she was offered less money than for Star Trek II.

Demise:

The two-time Emmy winner who starred in the hit television sitcom Cheers died on Monday after a battle with cancer, according to her family. She was 71. Alley died on December 5, 2022.

According to a statement released by her children, the cancer was discovered only recently.
