The Witcher: Henry Cavill will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth for Season 4

The Witcher Season 4

A fourth season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of The Witcher is confirmed, but with a major change: actor Henry Cavill will no longer play Geralt of Rivia. Liam Hemsworth will fill in for him. (The Hunger Games, Independence Day: Resurgence).

Cavill and Hemsworth discussed the recasting of the series’ lead Witcher on their respective Instagram feeds.

When Henry Cavill abruptly left The Witcher, it appeared that Netflix would cancel the series entirely. Netflix isn’t afraid to cancel shows, even hit shows, at the first sign of trouble in order to focus on larger projects. Like Emily in Paris.

Instead of cancelling the show, Netflix announced that Liam Hemsworth would fill in for Cavill, who is already trying on his Superman suit for DC. While Cavill will continue to star in the upcoming third season, which will be available on Netflix sometime next year, Hemsworth will take over for the planned fourth season.

Despite the change, Netflix’s head of scripted series in the United States and Canada, Peter Friedlander, says the show’s honesty will stay intact.

For Season 4 of “The Witcher,” Liam Hemsworth will take up Geralt’s sword:

While The Witcher Season 3 has yet to premiere, it has already been renewed for a season 4 — but there will be a change. Liam Hemsworth will take over as the titular monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia in Season 4, replacing Henry Cavill, who played the role for the first three years.

Storyline:

The series follows Geralt as he travels the Continent fighting anything and everything that goes bump in the night, from ghouls to bruxish and more.  It is based on the best-selling book series by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Joey Batey misses Henry Cavill and welcomes Liam Hemworth to the family:

Joey Batey (Jaskier) was asked about Henry Cavill leaving The Witcher in a new interview published by Culture Crave as part of The Witcher: Blood Origin press junket. Batey confirmed that they did.

“I actually spoke to both of them. I talked to Henry last week, and we text a lot. He’s a wonderful friend. “I just sent him a message saying how much everyone on the show would miss him, myself more than most because Henry and I are very close buddies and we’ve ended up spending the last four years carving out these articles.”

Season 3 of The Witcher began filming earlier this year and is set to debut on Netflix in summer 2023. The Witcher: Blood Origin, a limited series prequel spinoff starring the incomparable Michelle Yeoh, will premiere on Netflix on Christmas Day.
