The release date of Emancipation:

On December 2, the Antoine Fuqua-directed movie will have a limited cinema release before going live on Apple TV a week later.

On Monday, Apple Original Films released the film’s official trailer and key art (Training Day). The drama serves as the 54-year-old actor’s first picture following the 94th Academy Awards incident in which he slapped Chris Rock in front of a live audience.

Will Smith plays Peter, a man who escapes slavery and began work on a quest for freedom, in this story, which is set in Louisiana during the American Civil War.

He and another slave are forced to move the dangerous Louisiana swamps in one scene as they attempt to flee. The companion says, “There are many ways to die in a lake,” in the trailer, to which Peter responds, “There are many ways to die here.”

In order to achieve his goal of being a free man, Peter is then seen escaping from dangerous dogs and soldiers as well as fighting the deadly Louisiana swamps.

At the end of the trailer, Peter says, “I will look in victory at my enemies,” staring dreamily up at the sky.

“Emancipation” tells the inspiring tale of Peter (Smith):

a man who successfully frees himself from slavery by using his cleverness, unfaltering faith, and unfailing love for his family. “to elude cold-blooded hunters and the merciless swamps of Louisiana on his quest for freedom,” the official synopsis reads. The 1863 photographs of “Whipped Peter,” which were taken during an United Army medical examination and first published in Harper’s Weekly, served as the motivation for the movie. Growing public opposition to slavery was ultimately influenced by an image known as “The Scourged Back,” which portrays Peter’s bare back being torn apart by a whipping administered by his masters.

He said-“I heard it myself— slaves are free,” says Peter at the beginning of the trailer.

After that, he is guided on a triumphant journey by the “sounds of Abraham [Lincolncannons]”.
